The latest rage in video surveillance equipment is the surveillance equipment designed by a company called LukWerks. They use 3 unique technologies to give them the power and versatility that is taking the surveillance world by storm. This article discusses these technologies to find out how these latest surveillance cameras “tick”.
Security Camera Powerline Networking
LukWerks Video Surveillance Cameras use HomePlug™ technology which connects the devices to each other through the power lines in a home or office. HomePlug-certified products connect PCs and other devices that use Ethernet, USB and 802.11 “Wi-Fi” technologies to the powerline via a HomePlug “bridge” or “adapter.”
HomePlug is a simple technology provides a simple solution for distributing connectivity around the home or office without adding any new wires or exposing walls to fish wires through to the surveillance cameras. LukWerks Video Surveillance cameras use of HomePlug technology is the power behind the surveillance system’s incredible ease of setup. Each Security Camera is connected by an Ethernet Cat5e cable to a standard electrical outlet. Because of this, there is no need to configure the Security Camera or required to install or configure any wireless routers or other networking equipment to them. The buyer does not have to purchase any additional wires or re-wire or fish wires in their their home or office in order to install them and having a complete end-to-end video surveillance system in a matter of minutes.
LukWerks Video Surveillance cameras is simply a ladder-less and drill-free setup. Besides the ease of setup, using HomePlug Technology also allows the camera to pass secure video data over existing power lines to the USB adapter, which then passes the video to the USB connector device on the computer where Werks powerfully video surveillance software is installed on.

Universal Plug and Play (UPnP)
UPnP™ technology makes LukWerks Video Surveillance networking, cctv, simple and affordable. With UPnP, a device (security camera) can dynamically join a network, obtain an IP address, convey its capabilities, and learn about the presence and capabilities of other devices, automatically. This enables “zero configuration” networks. Furthermore, devices can subsequently communicate with each other directly, thereby enabling peer-to-peer networking. Behind this functionality is a robust UPnP device architecture, a standards-based technology for transparent network device connectivity.
What this means is that the technology allows LukWerks Video Surveillance Cameras to work nearly immediately upon being plugged into the network. This truly eliminates the administration hassles associated with typical networked computers and devices. UPnP technology indeed reduces the complexity for everyone, whether they are technically inclined or a novice. Using the standards-based UPnP technology, Werks automatically identifies each of your cameras nearly as quickly as you can plug them into a wall socket. Once UPnP is enabled for each camera, you can control each camera’s resolution, recording schedules, and a camera’s specific alerts for up to six camera’s. What’s more amazing is that the Werks video surveillance software actively monitors and records up to six Security Cameras which can consist of indoor, outdoor or spy cameras. Once images are saved by the Werks Video Surveillance Software, you can quickly review the recorded video by month, day, hour, and camera.

Windows Media Video Encoding
LukWerks video surveillance system uses the Windows Media Video 9 encoding technology primarily because it is an efficient and universal video compression tool. At the core of every Luk Security Camera is an amazing 400MHz processor and a high-performance digital image sensor. This powerful processor and sensor make it possible for Luk Security Cameras to encode video in real-time into the digital Windows Media Video (wmv) format, which compresses the video as much as 200 times its original size.
The LukWerks Video Surveillance cameras then transmits this video to your PC, which when powered by the Werks Video Surveillance Software becomes a Video Surveillance command center. The Werks Software can display live, streaming digital video from up to six cameras. With this power, Luk Security Cameras provide digital motion detection, real-time Windows Media Video (wmv) encoding, and dynamic image quality processing. In addition, e-mail and cell phone alerts may be set up which many video surveillance systems that cost thousands cannot do.
