Surveillance is starting to hit its stride in the mass marketplace, thanks to true wireless plug-and-play IP-based systems that are extremely easy to setup, and cost in the hundreds of dollars rather than thousands. Legacy CCTV systems are largely made up of closed proprietary technology that is difficult to manage and share with law enforcement agencies and others. Because the small business space is relatively untouched by these legacy systems, companies like WiLife have leapfrogged existing technology available in the marketplace with an all-in-one IP-based system that uses open compression formats including Window Media Video and Windows-based PCs to store, manage, and share video. Using existing PCs as a command center, rather than expensive standalone DVRs, reduces startup costs and provides a system foundation that small business owners are familiar with and comfortable using for their everyday surveillance needs.
Over the last 20 years there has been little change in the typical CCTV system. Time-lapse VCRs have largely been replaced by DVRs; but analog cameras still dominate the edge of the system. Internet connectivity is not even offered to the customer in most instances. These types of systems typically end up sitting on a shelf and collecting dust until there is an event that requires review. At that time many people find that the system had a software or mechanical failure that prevented the system from capturing the event. Even if the system were working properly, search and playback are usually not easy tasks. On-screen menu-driven commands make it difficult to navigate. Proprietary software and compression formats make it difficult to manage and share video files.
Now, WiLife Pro Video Security System is the world’s first auto-integrated, PC-based, professional digital video security system. It automatically integrates WiLife-engineered components of up to six IP video cameras, feature-rich command center software, and robust online remote access. Using powered Ethernet and plug-and-play camera discovery, it also offers the world’s easiest set-up and most intuitive interface. Features include motion-based recording onto the computer’s hard-drive with innovative search and playback. WiLife Pro also offers free anywhere, anytime remote access to live video from Windows PCs and cell phones as well as providing motion-based instant email and cell phone alerts.
At its heart is the powerful WiLife Command Center software, which provides simultaneous viewing of up to six cameras at a time. It features motion-detection-based recording to the computer’s hard-drive and an intuitive search and playback interface for quickly finding video from prior days, weeks, or months. The system also provides email and cell phone alerts that trigger on user defined motion events, allowing users to better manage their property. Other features include printing and exporting video, disk management, and much more.
Secure WiLife Online provides free anywhere, anytime remote access to live video from PC Internet browsers and Windows Mobile cell phones. Remote access means users can check in on the property from the road – keeping them in control of their security.
The intelligent WiLife Pro Cameras have on-board microprocessors to provide high-resolution color images with exceptional picture quality, digital motion detection with up to sixteen user-definable zones, automatic color control, and on-board Windows Media Compression.
